Michelin Hosts Sustainable Natural Rubber Group Stakeholders Meeting in Jakarta and Jambi Plantation​

Jakarta, Indonesia – February 10, 2025 – Michelin reaffirmed its commitment to sustainability by hosting the Michelin Sustainable Natural Rubber Stakeholders meeting in Jakarta. The full-day event, held at Santika Premiere Hotel Bintaro, brought together non- governmental organizations (NGOs), industry leaders, environmental advocates, and sustainability experts from around the world to discuss the challenges, opportunities, and key developments shaping the future of sustainable natural rubber.    

The meeting provided a platform for open dialogue and collaboration, focusing on progress in sustainable natural rubber practices, supply chain transformation, responsible sourcing, and compliance with evolving regulations. Michelin shared insights into its 2024- 2030 sustainability action plan. 

Following the Jakarta meeting, Michelin extended an invitation to selected international stakeholders for a field visit to its rubber plantation in Jambi from February 11-15, 2025. This visit allowed participants to gain firsthand insights into Michelin’s sustainability initiatives, conservation efforts, community development programs and employees welfare.    

The visit sparked valuable discussions and fresh perspectives on how Michelin could further enhance its sustainability efforts.  Stakeholders provided constructive feedback, emphasizing the need to strengthen community partnerships, expand reforestation projects, increase supply chain transparency, and explore new innovations in sustainable rubber production. These insights will play a crucial role in shaping Michelin’s future sustainability strategies.
